You are welcome to explore the site of the CERN Digital Memory service.
The Digital Memory project is born from the repetitive observation over decades that a fraction of CERN patrimony is threaten to be lost.
If a good part is kept in safe information systems where long term preservation is ”in the pipeline”, another part is not managed for archiving. CERN Digital Memory targets to create incentives for a more consistent and robust solution to guarantee the long term preservation of content by existing information systems, as well as a new approach to collect missing content worth been transmitted to future generations.
Since the beginning of the project in 2016, three main services have driven the project :
- The Digitization of the CERN patrimony that only exists in analog formats (papers, videotapes, slides, etc)... read more
- The Creation of a Digital Archive compliant with the OAIS reference model... read more
- The Addition of value to the digital archive through specific outreaching actions... read more
