Digitizing

Still images, videos and audios have been captured at CERN since 1954.

The analog recordings were considered at risk due to the obsolescence of the supports so that a complete program of digitization was launched in 2016.

With the initial help of the Memoriav Foundation, the CERN Information Technology department and the CERN Council have engaged the different actions of digitization for films & videotapes, cassettes & open reel tapes and photographies.

A Noble Mission

CERN is not just another laboratory. It is an institution that has been entrusted with a noble mission which it must fulfil not just for tomorrow but for the eternal history of human thought.
